What Is It?
The Community Help Hub in Bedlington offers free telephone and internet access to people looking for jobs or applying for benefits. We’ve realised many people don’t have internet access at home, and only have mobile phones. It’s really expensive to call so called “free” and “low cost” 0800, 0845 and 0870 numbers from mobiles, yet increasingly these are the only numbers that are offered for contacting government and local authority departments about benefits and other services. We know that free internet access is also provided at libraries, but here at the Community Help Hub you’ll be able to use the internet and if you need to, and make a phone call at the same time to check what you are doing. There will also be a helping hand available from our staff to offer any simple guidance you might need in completing forms and applications.

We can also give limited help to people wishing to create a cv, and have a standard template you can copy if you don’t know where to start, as well as use of the computer and reasonable printing facilities.

Where Is It?
The Community Help Hub is at 30 Front Street West in Bedlington, almost opposite the Job Centre and the petrol station, by the Red Lion bus stop on the X21 / X22 bus routes to Ashington and Newbiggin.

When’s It Open?
We’re normally open Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 to 15.00. But, because we are mostly staffed by volunteers, we sometimes have to close at short notice when our volunteers are sick or on holiday. Please bear with us if this happens. We try to keep such closures to a minimum.

Is It Free?
Yes. There is no charge for using the Community Help Hub.
